FAQs
Is this a campaign? Is it an event? Is it an organization?
Yes, yes, and yes! Our initiative began as an idea to paint an inspiring mural or two on the boarded-up windows throughout Chicago and has quickly (aka, in a matter of 48 hours) become an organized initiative for community revitalization. Our hope is that this idea can continue to spread organically. If you would like to get involved, contact us!
How are sponsors being sourced, and what are you doing with excess donations?
Our team of organizers has worked hard to contact the creative businesses within our reach (beginning with the Architecture and Interior Design industry). Our sponsors are generously covering the cost of paint supplies and a commission for each artist. All funds beyond that will go directly to My Block My Hood My City’s Small Business Relief Fund, which supports their ongoing operations and efforts to repair small businesses throughout Chicago as well as their greater mission to allow underprivileged youth a chance to have experiences outside of their own communities.
How can I get involved?
This is all about community and coming together!
If you are a small business, check out our initiative page to get in touch with us about committing your boarded-up window space. There is no cost for businesses to do so, but we ask that you keep the boards up for a minimum of two weeks post-event.
If you are an artist, reach out to us! We are keeping a running list of willing artists and are setting them up with primed canvases as soon as we have them secured.
If you are a Chicagoan, come watch the murals be painted live! We are sharing information and updates about local events via our Instagram. You can also check out our donate page to help support the cause.
